On the Trail with IMBA

Hey All,

I just survived 34 hours of travel (a 28 hour flight) to get back to Ubin Island outside the Malacca Straits near Singapore. No sign of any spitting cobras yet, but there’s always hope.

The boys at Dirtraction and Toh Kim Bok have made great progress since last year, having built 8km of xc, a small skills park and pump track — the new signage is excellent too. For the next two weeks we’ll be adding some tasty TTFs and tweaking some of the problem areas, getting ready for their first UCI XC race and touching base with National Parks Singapore.

Riders from all over Southeast Asia are coming to Singapore to ride as Dirtraction now has three national parks with singletrack and race-ready trails. Riders are coming from Malaysia to ride at Ubin (the equivalent to having riders leave Colorado for Nebraska) so we’ve got a great start!

On a typical day at work here, over 5 languages are spoken…we have crew members from Thailand, Malaysia, China, Burma, India and wherever it is that I’m from these days.
